HIMCOM Spotted with Bollywood Star Kajol!

The world of media is never short on excitement, and HIMCOM students recently got a front-row seat to witness it in action. Our aspiring journalists and media professionals had the exclusive opportunity to interact with one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actresses, Kajol, during the promotion of her film Maa. The event took place on the set of News18 India, where Kajol was hosted by senior journalist Ameesh Devgan.

For students pursuing mass communication, these experiences go beyond textbooks. They offer a glimpse into the real-world dynamics of celebrity interviews, film promotion strategies, and live news production. The session allowed HIMCOM to observe firsthand how media houses organize such high-profile interactions—from coordinating with the film’s PR team to ensuring smooth live telecasts.

Kajol, known for her powerful performances and charismatic presence, shared insights about her role in Maa, a film that explores the emotional journey of motherhood and resilience. Her candid conversation with Ameesh Devgan not only touched upon her experiences in the industry but also highlighted the evolving narratives in Indian cinema. Students observed how a skilled anchor guides the dialogue while maintaining the balance between promotion and meaningful discussion.

Witnessing this live interaction was particularly inspiring for our media students. Many of them aspire to become anchors, producers, or entertainment journalists themselves. Seeing a veteran like Ameesh Devgan conduct the interview reinforced the importance of preparation, research, and the ability to think on your feet. It was also a lesson in how to handle star power with professionalism and grace—an essential skill in broadcast journalism.

Apart from observing the interview, students got a rare chance to experience the behind-the-scenes buzz of a news channel studio during a special telecast. From camera placements and lighting setups to live direction cues, this visit demonstrated how many elements come together to create the seamless programs viewers see on television.

Such industry exposure is a cornerstone of HIMCOM’s approach to media education. We believe that real learning happens when students step out of the classroom and engage with professionals in action. Whether it’s covering film promotions, reporting on events, or meeting leading figures from the worlds of news and entertainment, HIMCOM are encouraged to immerse themselves in diverse experiences.

This visit was more than just a celebrity sighting—it was a masterclass in media management, public relations, and journalistic ethics. Students learned how news channels balance editorial integrity with entertainment content, and how film promotion has become an integral part of the media ecosystem.

Encounters like these also help build confidence. Standing shoulder to shoulder with renowned journalists and stars gives students the belief that one day, they too can become trusted voices in the industry. It also emphasizes the importance of networking and relationship-building—skills that are crucial for a successful media career.

At HIMCOM, India’s leading mass communication college, we are committed to offering such opportunities to our students regularly. Our tie-ups with major news networks and entertainment platforms ensure that learning is always practical, contemporary, and inspiring.

Congratulations to all the HIMCOM who participated in this memorable event with Kajol and the News18 team. We are proud to see our students absorbing knowledge, observing professionals, and taking every chance to grow as future media leaders.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to bridge the gap between academia and industry, one experience at a time!
