HIMCOM Students Experience Live Political Debate at Zee News Kachahri Show

Practical exposure is one of the strongest pillars of media education, and students of the Heritage Institute of Management and Communication (HIMCOM) recently experienced it firsthand. The Live Wire students of HIMCOM visited the Zee News studio for the popular debate program “Kachahri”, where they witnessed an engaging live discussion featuring Ms. Uma Bharti, senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Experiencing Political Journalism in Action

The debate session brought together political analysts, scholars, and experts who exchanged views on pressing social and political issues. Observing experienced leaders and commentators deliberate on national concerns gave students deeper insights into political communication, media ethics, and live debate formats in journalism.

Direct Interaction with Leaders

One of the highlights of the visit was the rare opportunity for HIMCOM students to interact directly with the panelists. The young media aspirants posed questions to the debaters, gaining valuable lessons on how to frame sharp, balanced, and relevant queries—an essential skill for future journalists. Interacting with personalities like Ms. Uma Bharti and seasoned scholars provided inspiration as well as practical learning.

Behind the Scenes of Live Television

This was more than just a studio tour—it was a hands-on experience in political journalism and live TV production. Students observed everything from camera placements and lighting setups to anchor moderation, producer coordination, and technical execution. Witnessing how a live debate show is managed behind the scenes allowed them to connect classroom theory with real-world practices.

Building Industry-Ready Professionals

Exposure to such platforms is crucial for budding journalists. It teaches them how narratives are framed in debates, how anchors control discussions, and how media influences public opinion—all while maintaining journalistic integrity. HIMCOM consistently emphasizes experiential learning in media and mass communication, ensuring its students are confident, critical thinkers, and industry-ready professionals.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Journalists

For the students, participating in Zee News’ Kachahri was both inspiring and educational. Witnessing a live political debate, questioning thought leaders, and observing technical precision reinforced their passion for journalism and mass communication. Experiences like these not only sharpen professional skills but also prepare the next generation of media professionals who will inform, influence, and inspire society.
